Master of Applied Health Services Research-Thesis

Information for Prospective Students

The MAHSR program is an interdisciplinary, thesis based graduate program aimed at developing and enhancing leadership abilities, professional skill set, and research capabilities in the realm of health services, regardless of whether the student has background in the healthcare industry or research experience.

A unique collaborative venture with the Atlantic Regional Training Centre, course material is delivered online through exceptional faculty across four Atlantic universities: Saint Mary’s University, University of Prince Edward Island, University of New Brunswick, and Memorial University of Newfoundland. Students also participate in 5 workshops with prominent decision makers in health services, put theory into practice during a four-month residency, and further develop their capabilities by conducting original thesis research with the support of a talented faculty member. Graduates of the MAHSR program will be scholarly trained to pursue exciting careers in health research, healthcare, and health policy

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree of four years or an Honours Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.3 scale (equivalent to a “B+” on the undergraduate grading scheme at Saint Mary’s University) in the Bachelor’s degree

 Application Deadlines and Key Dates

  • Canadian and permanent residents: March 15
  • International: March 15
  • Program start date: September
  • Minimum time to completion: 2 years
