About Us

The CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety was created as a centre of research excellence within Saint Mary's University in 2002 following a generous donation from Canadian National Railway Company. Comprised primarily of faculty members (including three Canada Research Chairs) and graduate students, the Centre's objective is to build research capacity within the field of occupational health and safety including occupational health psychology. The Centre accomplishes these objectives by:

  • Coordinating and conducting occupational health and safety research;
  • Building capacity for occupational health and safety research in Nova Scotia ;
  • Providing mechanisms for the training of occupational health psychologists, human resource managers and other practitioners/managers;
  • Consultation with industry and labour to provide research based guidelines for practice and intervention.

The CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Canadian National Railway Company in the pursuit of these goals.
